Schools Data Day - can you handle numbers?
The Q-Step Data Day will take place from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturday 1 April 2017 at the Department of Politics & International Relations, Manor Road, Oxford OX1 3UQ. Students will take part in a programme of lectures and data lab sessions to help them understand statistics and how they could use them in a social science degree. Lunch will be provided, and Oxford Q-Step Centre will reimburse travel expenses of up to £60 per student.
To be eligible for a place, students must have applied for a place on the Philosophy, Politics & Economics UNIQ Summer School 2017 http://www.uniq.ox.ac.uk/, and have indicated their interest in the Q-Step Data Day on that application form. Candidates will be selected on the basis of the UNIQ application form, including their personal statement. Consideration will be given to academic achievement at GCSE/National 5. Preference will be given to candidates from low socio-economic backgrounds and from areas with low progression to higher education.
Candidates must submit their UNIQ application form, indicating their interest in the Q-Step Data Day by Tuesday 24 January 2017. Successful candidates will be offered a place on the Q-Step Data Day by Monday 13 March 2017. The deadline for students to accept their place is Friday 17 March 2017.
